The love that Barbie poured into her loved ones left a lasting impact. She had always been a source of strength and unity amongst her friends and family. Growing up in a large family with 15 siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, and two children of her own. She was blessed to have always been surrounded by love. When she was diagnosed with cancer her children were deeply committed to ensuring her needs were met during her treatment. For Barbie’s daughter, this period was especially difficult. While navigating the emotional toll of her mother’s declining health, she also faced the demands of attending college and working full-time while her father ran the family business alone. The burden felt overwhelming at times. But as the weight of responsibility grew, so too did the support from family. With their help, she was able to reduce her work hours and focus on both her mother and her studies. Each family member played a vital role. Some brought meals and cases of water, others provided companionship when Barbie’s husband and daughters couldn’t be there. They took turns driving her to treatments, and some even bought comfortable clothes for her to wear at home. These thoughtful acts of kindness eased the burden that had fallen on Barbie’s immediate family, offering relief during an otherwise difficult journey. Without the family’s unwavering support, they couldn’t imagine how they would have managed. Although Barbie lost her battle with cancer on her birthday, May 28, 2018, her daughters remain committed to keeping her legacy alive, the legacy of the love she gave. From this inspiration, Barbie’s Garden of Hope was born. Recognizing that many families don’t have the same support system during such difficult times, Barbie’s Garden of Hope strives to provide essential care and resources, offering comfort, love, and hope to families around the world.
